Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters will race with a new number at the upcoming Auckland SuperSprint, replacing his usual number 6 with the number 50 as Supercars heads across the ditch in September.
The new number comes in recognition of ENZED, which was founded in Auckland in 1972, and celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. A leading supplier, installer, and repairer of hydraulic hoses and connectors in Australia and New Zealand, ENZED has supported Waters’ various racing efforts for over a decade, including Supercars, the Dunlop Super2 Series, Formula Ford speedway, and sprint cars.
For Waters, who currently sits second in the Supercars drivers’ championship, the one-off number change is a fitting way to mark ENZED’s half century of operation.
“ENZED has been a huge supporter of my career, so it’s cool to give them a nod as tribute to their 50th anniversary.” Waters said. “I’ve had a great relationship with ENZED for a really long time, they’ve been on board with me virtually every step of my career and we’ve shared a lot of great highlights together. We’re running the number 50 on my car in recognition of ENZED’s 50th anniversary, and to do it in ENZED’s hometown of Auckland is a nice little gesture. It’s going to be a huge weekend, especially with this being the last Supercars event at Pukekohe, so we’re definitely aiming to get up on the top step of the podium and add another memory to the bank.”
ENZED has had an affiliation with Waters dating back to the previous decade, supporting his championship-winning efforts in Formula Ford (2011), the Dunlop Super2 Series (2015), and also his Modified Production national speedway title (2018). ENZED Distribution & Marketing Manager Australasia, Mark Engel, expressed his gratitude to Waters and Tickford for their acknowledgement of the company’s anniversary.
“It’s really nice to see Cam and the team at Tickford helping us celebrate ENZED’s 50th anniversary when they head across to Pukekohe,” Engel said. “We’ve of course had a tremendous relationship with Cam ever since he was a pup, he’s been a fantastic ambassador for us over the years, representing and connecting with our ENZED Service Centres and Hose Doctors around Australasia. We first partnered with Tickford when Cam came to the team in 2014, and have created a great working relationship with both of them over the years that we are very proud of. ENZED has come a very long way since its humble beginnings in Auckland in 1972, and seeing Cam drive the No. 50 ENZED-supported Supercar racing at Pukekohe will be a great part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.”
Waters will race the No. 50 Monster Energy Ford Mustang, in recognition of ENZED’s 50th anniversary, at the upcoming Auckland SuperSprint, taking place September 9-11 at Pukekohe Park Raceway, south of Auckland.
