Spurred on by his so-close-yet-so-far second place at last year’s Bathurst 1000 Supercars event, long-time ENZED ambassador Cam Waters is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to conquer Mount Panorama in 2021 - and this year he will contest the time-honoured race with added motivation.
Waters will take to the Bathurst circuit in his ENZED-backed Monster Energy #6 Ford Mustang sporting a spectacular new helmet design, which will emblazon the names of ENZED Service Centres and HOSE DOCTORS.
The eye-catching matt black and red chrome helmet will not only profile the nationwide ENZED network it will serve to provide added impetus for the 27-year-old Mildura-born driver, who finished a mere six tenths of a second away from winning last year’s race, having claimed pole position in Saturday’s coveted Top-10 Shootout, while recording a new qualifying record for the dauntingly fast 6.1-kilometre, 23-corner layout.
The annual Bathurst 1000 event, which has been run continuously since 1963, is regarded as the holy grail of Australian motorsport and Waters sees this year’s gruelling, day-long, six-hour hit-out as a great opportunity to go one better than his runner-up spot achieved in last year’s race.
“I’ve been really fortunate to have had great support from ENZED pretty much since I started racing cars as a young teenager, and I would love to reward them for their continued faith with a Bathurst win. Last year was gut-wrenching finishing so close behind in second after chasing the leader’s tail lights for as good as the last half of the race.”
“Having done all I can to prepare well for this year’s event, I’m also genuinely excited that I will be wearing a flagship ENZED branded helmet throughout, which has been part of a great initiative called ‘Accelerate & Celebrate’ with replica helmets just like mine from Bathurst up for grabs. This campaign was a great way to engage the ENZED network and I’m hoping I can do the program proud by winning on the first Sunday in December.”
By way of a quick reflection, ENZED has backed Cam’s Supercars program since he commenced driving with Tickford Racing back in 2014, winning the 2015 Dunlop Series before graduating to the Supercars Championship in 2016. During this time there have been a number of tactical initiatives implemented by ENZED to underpin and maximise the company’s involvement with Cam and Supercars, with this year’s latest incentive proving to be one of the most popular.
Paul Richardson, General Manager of ENZED Bayswater - located in Melbourne’s outer Eastern suburbs - who is a long-time ENZED franchise holder, says as an ENZED Franchisee.
“I can think of no better ambassador for our brand than Cameron Waters. Cam reflects the values of ENZED through his commitment, professionalism, and drive to succeed, although his race finishing reliability (said with a smile) can sometimes be questioned - especially when his mate Chaz Mostert gets involved! I’m proud of the association that ENZED has had with Cam throughout his time in karts, sprints, Formula Vee, Super2 and now in Supercars, and look forward to being able to continue our partnership long into the future. I’m sure I speak on behalf of all at ENZED in wishing Cam all the best for this year’s Bathurst 1000, go well!”
