Team ENZED Abarth has successfully completed Targa NZ and has brought home the Index of Performance Trophy again! The trophy, which brings all makes and models into play, is awarded to the highest placed car after factoring in the age and engine size. Team ENZED Abarth has won this trophy many times, going to show that you don’t need the latest and greatest hugely powerful cars to be successful and have fun.
“This year’s event was pretty tough on small cars, with some long fast open stages that absolutely suited the larger cars,” said team owner and driver, Mike Lowe. “It is a great testament to our Team and of course our fabulous little car that we not only achieved 10th in 2wd, but won the Index of Performance as well”.
As usual, completing the rally was a true team effort: “Along with co-driver Phil Sutton, and our crew of Nigel Derbyshire and Dave Jowett, we managed to overcome tyre issues and a blown turbo hose to finish every stage,” said Lowe. “The boys worked miracles!”
This year the team was also “Racing for Prostate Cancer Awareness”. As a survivor himself, Lowe is passionate about all men getting regular PSA checks: “On our race cars we regularly check oils, water, tyres etc., we need to remember to check ourselves.” Sound advice.
