Eggleton scores Podium at Round One of Sprintcar International Series

ENZED Sponsored Daniel Eggleton started his Sprintcar International Series Campaign with a bang at Western Springs over the weekend. Competing against some of the USA’s best, including 3-time NASCAR Sprint Series Cup Champion Tony Stewart, Eggleton was able to place his ENZED Sprintcar on the podium in 3rd place.

Eggleton entered the event quietly confident of achieving success as a result of the extensive testing and preparation that was conducted throughout the off-season. The heat races were relatively uneventful as he negotiated his way through the pack in race 1 to finish 5th, before a 4th in race 2 meant Eggleton would start the feature event from Grid 6.

Off to a fantastic start in the feature, Eggleton blasted his way through the pack into fourth before the completion of the first lap. Throughout the remainder of the race, Eggleton was able to make the pass on the #3 of McDonald and fend off USA’s Shane Stewart to come home in 3rd place.

“We’re all pretty excited to get on the podium from a grid 6 feature start, I felt nothing was going our way again on the double file restarts stuck on the bottom in P3 on each one losing a position and having to fight back for it wasn’t easy. I’ve seen Shane Stewart race in USA and he is unbelievably fast, when he got by me I thought a podium was all over but he made a slight mistake enabling us to get back by – that last restart we finally got to start 4 and got back in to 3rd where we had been running for most of the race. It was a great result for our sponsors, fans and team. Congrats to Michael Pickens for taking the win and Kyle Hirst 2nd,” Said Eggleton after the race.
